Bio
(Serena) is an original Vancouverite and has been working in eCommerce since 2003 at several web design and development firms across North America. She currently serves on the board of the International Internet Marketing Association as the Director of Search and Analytics.
Serena has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with a specialization in e-Media and a Master of Science Degree in Interactive Communications; both from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Prior to Quinnipiac University, she studied Biology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She is currently a graduate student at Simon Fraser University, researching mCommerce trust as a member of the Connections Lab Research Group.
Focus:
Serena’s research explores the characteristics of users perceived trust concerns related to everyday routines and social behaviors while participating in mobile shopping and mobile commerce.
Connections Lab:
The Connections Lab (cLab) is a research group, led by Dr. Carman Neustaedter at Simon Fraser University’s School of Interactive Arts + Technology (SIAT). Our group specializes in the areas of Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Collaboration, Domestic Computing, and Ubiquitous Computing. We study the design and use of technologies aimed at supporting the everyday activities of people. Many of our research projects focus on connecting people through space and time with technology. This includes connecting family members and friends, providing support for workplace collaboration, and even bringing people together through games.
